First separate filming locations from the Great Hall set
Christ Church's staircase was used for filming. Its dining hall should not be confused with the Great Hall film set presented at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London. Decide whether your priority is an Oxford building or the studio experience before booking travel.
At the Bodleian, Duke Humfrey's Library and the Divinity School have screen connections; at New College, the cloisters and their tree feature in The Goblet of Fire. A stop on the map is a real institution with its own visitor arrangements, not a single combined attraction ticket.
Book the hardest-to-replace interior first
Look at the Bodleian's official tour options and the rooms included on your date. Access to the historic library interiors requires a suitable official tour; an exterior walk or entry to another space is not a substitute for that booking. Then check Christ Church and New College separately.
Match the ticket to the room, visitor age, accessibility needs and closure notices before paying. Do not assume a city walking tour includes college admission. Booking one essential interior first is a planning strategy, not a claim that any particular time slot is available.
A self-planned walking sequence
Christ Church, the Bodleian and New College make a coherent sequence on the map, but reverse or rearrange it around confirmed admission times. Keep gaps for entry queues, food and finding the correct visitor entrance. Plan most of a day for three interior visits rather than squeezing them into the time needed to walk between the buildings.
If you only have half a day, select one booked interior and one optional stop. A sold-out room need not ruin the outing, but seeing the outside of a building should not be described as having visited the filming room.
A current New College restriction to know
New College says its cloister lawn is closed for reseeding until spring 2027; the tree remains visible from the cloisters. That changes the photograph you can take, not the need to respect the boundary. Recheck the college's planned closures for your exact day.
In autumn and winter, carry weather protection for the walks between buildings. Add admissions individually when estimating costs and leave out unverified package savings. The aim is a manageable day with the spaces you value most, rather than a checklist that promises access everywhere.

Christ Church
At Christ Church, distinguish the filmed staircase from the separate dining-hall visit. Choose your admission based on the visitor route available that day, not a generic promise to enter Hogwarts.

Bodleian Library
At the Bodleian, choose the tour by its included rooms. Keep the booking confirmation handy and follow the library's visiting and photography rules; this remains a working library.

New College
At New College, the cloisters are the focus for this route. The lawn closure means staying on the permitted visitor route while viewing the tree, and checking for additional dated closures.

Do I need a packaged Harry Potter tour?
No. You can arrange transport and admission yourself. Some interiors still require their institution's official guided tour, so independent planning does not mean unguided access everywhere.
Is Oxford the Warner Bros. Studio Tour?
No. These are different visits. Oxford offers real university locations; the studio tour has film sets. Do not use an Oxford booking as if it included studio admission.
