Choose the evening before you choose the route
For a first visit, make the Red Brick market the main event and add one other stop. If food stalls and seasonal shopping are the reason for going, arriving at the market with enough time and energy matters more than collecting every illuminated place. If your priority is a short, low-pressure outing after shopping, Landmark Plaza can be the main destination instead. You can enjoy an indoor Christmas setting without purchasing a market ticket simply because the market is famous.
A harbour evening involves more outdoor exposure than a shopping-centre visit. Decide whether everyone is comfortable walking and waiting outside before committing to the longest version. Small children, tired travellers and people carrying luggage may get more from two well-chosen stops than three. An outdoor route is not automatically step-free, and an indoor venue does not guarantee empty seats.
Grand Mall Park is a useful geographic link in the Minato Mirai area, but its last published winter illumination schedule ended in February 2026. Until the new season is confirmed, treat it as an optional park walk, not a promised 2026 light show. This distinction lets you book the confirmed part of the evening without relying on an old calendar.

Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Christmas Market
Head to the Red Brick Warehouse waterfront for market stalls and a harbour evening, rather than the general Yokohama city centre. Main-market tickets and free areas have different conditions; check the current entrance and allow for wind on the waterfront.

Walk from Bashamichi or Nihon-odori on the Minatomirai Line toward the Red Brick Warehouse waterfront. Follow the market’s current entrance signs; wind and crowd queues can slow the final approach.
November 20–December 25, 2026. Main-market admission and free surrounding areas have different rules; check the date-specific ticket before travelling.
An unhurried route from the indoor tree to the waterfront
One sensible sequence is Landmark Plaza first, an optional Grand Mall Park detour, then Red Brick Warehouse as the evening’s main stop. Begin at Sakuragicho or Minatomirai according to your train connection. The Landmark tree is on the first floor at Garden Square; it is not an observation-deck attraction. See it while you are already near shops and indoor facilities, then decide whether the weather justifies the outdoor detour.
Do not interpret this sequence as a fixed walking timetable. Crossing roads, photographs, shopping and admission queues all change the time needed. Pin the three exact venues on the map, choose your market arrival around its actual closing time and leave some unscheduled space between them. If the market is the priority and the group is getting tired, go directly there.
For the return, consider Bashamichi or Nihon-odori rather than automatically retracing the entire outward route to Sakuragicho. Choose the station that fits your destination and ability to walk. A route that starts and ends at different stations can be perfectly sensible; it is not a promise that every pavement is sheltered or that a particular exit is accessible. Check the relevant station map if you need lifts.
Grand Mall Park — illuminated avenue by MARK IS
This pedestrian avenue links the shopping and museum area, offering an outdoor alternative to the Red Brick market. The photographed tree lighting is from a previous season; treat a Christmas 2026 visit as conditional until the new programme is announced.
From Minatomirai Station, follow MARK IS and Yokohama Museum of Art signs to the outdoor avenue. Use the lit pedestrian paths; indoor shopping is a separate option in wet weather.
Christmas 2026 dates were unconfirmed on October 19. The official page available then still described November 6, 2025–February 8, 2026; those are previous-season dates, not the coming winter.
Tickets and the date can change the whole plan
The Red Brick market runs from 20 November to 25 December 2026. Opening day starts at 17:00. The main schedule then closes at 21:00 through 4 December and at 22:00 from 5 December, with food last orders earlier. A late dinner reservation elsewhere can leave little usable market time, so place meals and the market in one realistic sequence.
The published standard admission range is ¥500–1,000, while priority admission costs ¥2,000–2,500. A priority ticket with the premium mug is ¥4,500–5,000. These are different products, not three estimates for the same admission. Food and shopping are extra. Do not buy the most expensive ticket merely to avoid making a choice: first decide whether the included item and entry arrangement matter to your group. Detailed sales information was still due in late October at the time of checking.
Landmark’s winter campaign runs from 11 November 2026 to 11 January 2027, but the decoration changes from 26 December. It therefore remains a potential winter stop after Christmas without promising the same Christmas scene. A January visit is not a substitute for the Red Brick market, which has already ended.
Landmark Plaza — 1F Garden Square Christmas tree
Choose the indoor atrium at Sakata no Tane Garden Square for a weather-protected Christmas stop. The 2026 collaboration display changes after Christmas; cafés and special experiences may need separate bookings.

Use Sakuragicho Station and the moving walkway, or walk from Minatomirai Station through the shopping complex. Find Garden Square on Landmark Plaza’s first floor, not the tower observation deck.
November 11, 2026–January 11, 2027. The display changes from December 26, so later visits should not expect the same Christmas arrangement.
Rain, sea wind and children: keep a shorter version ready
A little rain and an official cancellation are different situations. The market normally operates in rain but may close in severe weather. Even when it opens, your group may prefer a shorter outdoor stay. Check the organiser’s notice before travelling; a pre-bought ticket does not mean the harbour will be comfortable. Carry a layer that blocks wind and a compact way to keep belongings dry.
For a family, use Landmark Plaza as a practical indoor part of the outing, rather than assuming the market’s seating will be available when needed. Take a toilet break before joining an admission or food queue. With a stroller, choose crossings and station exits deliberately and keep aisles clear. A children’s free-admission rule does not remove the need to plan food, travel or time outside.
An adult pair with one primary-school child pays for the adults’ applicable admission under the published accompanied-child rule; do not add a child ticket automatically. Through 4 December, the stated free category also extends to junior-high pupils. Confirm the current conditions for your ticket type before payment, especially if some members use a priority entrance. The useful comparison is the total for the group, plus food and transport, not the lowest headline price.
Photographs, shopping and a last-minute decision
Use the photographs and embedded videos to understand the real settings: brick warehouses and an outdoor market, a tree inside Landmark Plaza, and the pedestrian space at Grand Mall Park. They are documented views from earlier seasons, not previews of every 2026 decoration. A past market video cannot establish this year’s stall locations, queue lengths or mug availability. The older Landmark tree photograph identifies the indoor space rather than the current collaboration design.

If taking pictures matters, leave a separate pause for it instead of expecting to photograph while carrying hot food through a busy aisle. Step aside from building entrances and walking routes; the harbour belongs to visitors who are moving through it as well as those stopping. Decide whether you want a broad waterfront view or close details of the tree before choosing where to spend your limited outdoor time.
For a harbour-focused evening, keep the final outdoor time for Red Brick rather than returning to shops you have already seen. If gift shopping is the highlight, complete it before a relaxed meal; if the indoor tree is enough, end near Landmark and your chosen station. This makes the return part of the route instead of a last-minute detour. A warm drink and a little time to look back over the waterfront can then fit naturally into the evening.
Give each stop the time it needs
For roughly ninety minutes in the district, choose one anchor: either browse the market and eat something there, or see the indoor tree and enjoy a meal nearby. Trying to squeeze both into that allowance leaves the walking and admission queue competing with the experience. For an evening of around three hours, the indoor tree followed by the market is a more comfortable starting point, with Grand Mall only if its seasonal programme and the weather suit. These are editorial planning allowances, not official visit durations.
Give shopping a clear place in that plan. Buy gifts before settling down to eat, or keep a final browse near the end; carrying bags back and forth between the same stalls quickly uses the time saved elsewhere. Choose the return station before the last stop so that the final part of the evening moves towards home.
Keep the city plan connected to the wider trip
Use the map to locate the three exact stops and choose a sensible return station. The Japan comparison is for deciding between cities; this guide is for the evening after you have chosen Yokohama. Tokyo’s free evening walks remain a separate option for another day, rather than an extra task to fit into this route.

Can I enjoy Christmas in Yokohama without buying a market ticket?
Yes: the city evening and the paid main market are separate decisions. Landmark Plaza’s indoor display and a public-area walk can form a shorter outing. Do not assume that every area around Red Brick has the same admission conditions, or that an unconfirmed light event will operate on your date.
Should I start at Red Brick or Landmark Plaza?
Start at Landmark when you want an indoor tree, shopping or a sheltered pause before the waterfront. Start at Red Brick when the market is the only priority or your arrival is late. The best order follows the market hours and your return station, not a universal ranking.
Is Grand Mall Park’s 2026 illumination confirmed?
Not in the official schedule available on 19 October. The displayed 6 November 2025–8 February 2026 dates belong to the previous season. Keep it optional until the 2026–2027 announcement is available; the park’s location and the light event’s schedule are different facts.
Can I combine Yokohama with Tokyo’s Shintoyosu market in one evening?
It is possible to travel between the cities, but this guide recommends choosing one main market for a relaxed evening. Transfers, admission and separate food queues reduce the time at both. Use the existing Shintoyosu-versus-Yokohama comparison if the real question is which market to book.
