What is confirmed, and what is not
Checked 14 October 2026: Brussels Winter Wonders is announced for 27 November 2026–3 January 2027. The organiser says the fuller programme will follow in November. Visit Bruges' Christmas-market page still explicitly labels its details as the previous 2025/26 edition. Although the wider Winter Glow festival page advertises a longer winter season, that is not evidence that the Christmas markets run until February. Treat Bruges' market-specific 2026 dates as unconfirmed here.
Choose the trip around two evenings
For a relaxed two-night plan, use one evening for central Brussels and another for Bruges, once your Bruges date is confirmed. A single hotel base can avoid changing rooms, but a Bruges overnight lets you stay for its evening atmosphere without a late return. Neither is automatically better: compare where you arrive, luggage and your next destination. If only Brussels' dates fit reliably, book that as the core visit and leave Bruges as a flexible city excursion.
The train connects cities, not the market entrances
SNCB lists direct Brussels–Bruges services taking roughly an hour, but use its journey planner for your exact station, date and return. For central Bruges, check Brugge station rather than assuming Brugge-Sint-Pieters is interchangeable. Add the journeys between stations, accommodation and the markets to the rail time. Do not build the evening around a last-train time copied from a generic page; holiday schedules and engineering works need a dated check.
Keep the city walks compact
In Brussels, use the Bourse and Sainte-Catherine Place pages to orient your central visit, then match them against the organiser's current event map when the programme is released. In Bruges, Markt is the natural reference point in the existing market guide; confirm the current edition before assigning it a fixed evening slot. The aim is two distinct city experiences, not a race to count stalls. Archival photographs show real settings but do not establish the 2026 programme.
Places in this article

Plaisirs d'Hiver – Place de la Bourse
Bourse anchors the central Brussels walk. Use the building and surrounding area as a geographical reference, while checking the organiser's map for the current year's precise event layout.

Plaisirs d'Hiver – Place Sainte-Catherine
Sainte-Catherine is another Brussels location to compare on the map. Keep its visit flexible until the detailed programme is published, rather than promising a particular attraction here.

Kerstmarkt Markt Brugge
Markt is a useful Bruges reference point. The official market page still carries a previous-edition warning, so this article does not turn the wider Winter Glow calendar into a confirmed market schedule.

Do Bruges' Christmas markets run until February 2027?
That is not confirmed by the market-specific page checked here. The longer Winter Glow festival window covers a broader programme and must not be applied to every stall.
Can I combine Brussels and Bruges without a car?
Yes. SNCB lists direct rail services. Check your exact dated itinerary, the station-to-centre connections and a suitable return train before deciding whether to stay overnight.
